Lanes To Lake Blog (2)

So today I decided to venture out to do my first swim in the open air swimming at my local lido, Sandford Parks Lido.

It was a little chilly so I was thankful for the beautiful warm sherpa from Selkie Swim Co .  I must admit I was feeling a little apprehensive about the temperature of the water and the length of the pool, it being an Olympic size 50 meters.  So took a deep breath and took the plunge, well eased myself slowly down the steps into the water.

OMG what a beautiful surprise!  I was engulfed into the security of the water which wasn’t freezing; the feeling was amazing.  From the warm embrace of the water I pushed off from the wall and set off on my first length.  The feeling of freedom washing over me as I moved smoothly through the water, each stroke reaching out ahead of me aiming for the other end of that long pool.  I made it to the other end elated, albeit a little out of breath and then proceeded to do several more lengths. I was very proud of myself I survived my first swim in this beautiful pool.  I left feeling inspired, elated and excited about my next swim.
